Shearing sheds designed for efficiency and safety.
Working with existing infrastructure is something we do quite often. For existing sheep yards we will assess your current workflow operations and vehicle access requirements to incorporate a custom designed shearing shed that fits within your existing parameters. Site assessments involve site map analysis using satellite imagery to assess existing trees and terrain. Drone imagery is also used for existing infrastructure for best orientation to ensure your shearing shed is designed to suite your working operations.
Site assessment considerations discussed are:
- Shed orientation for best practice and seasonal changes
- Future operational expansion and growth
- Lighting and ventilation for improved ergonomics
- Column placements to suit existing workflow requirements
- Loading and unloading of stock
- Design around existing site levels, work heights, and sheep yards
- Internal out-fit contractors for size and configurations
- Provisions for future operational expansion and growth
How we work in with your
internal fit-out suppliers.
We understand that each operation is different and requires a lot of custom design, to ensure that the overall workflow is maximised for optimal productivity. To achieve this, we work in with your internal fit-out supplier to ensure that we get the correct layout and design to accommodate the many different processors that take place in your shearing shed. Over the years our design team have worked with many internal fit-out suppliers to work out the finer details.
Provisions and features we factor in are as follows:
- Height allocation for truck access
- Loading facilities/stock ramp location
- Let out pen location
- Clearance heights in openings incl. stock access points
- Location and capacity of wool storage
- Access doors and column placement
- Design and size of shearing stands
- Ventilation placement
Frequently asked questions.
Any questions you may have our building consultants will be more than happy to assist you.
Yes, quite often we do this for many of our customers. We will ensure provisions are in place for your yard cover to be extended.
One way to make your shearing shed more cost-effective is by combining your existing sheep yard with a shearing shed.
Many of our sheep-farming operators have benefited hugely from being able to keep their sheep dry in the winter and continue to shear in comfortable weather conditions. We can design the shearing shed and yard cover over your existing infrastructure, in this way it is more cost-effective along with many other benefits.
When designing your shearing shed we will need to work in with your internal fitout provider. This way we can find the most effective ways to make the workspace flow effortlessly, ensuring that there is ample space for the configurations you’ve chosen.
We can recommend a provider or work-in with your existing provider.
Shearing sheds can come in many different sizes, there are several factors to consider when it comes to, deciding how big it should be. For example, the type of operation setup you currently have, the head of sheep will also determine the size for good safer working conditions and holding capacity.
Lighting and ventilation are critical features to ensuring your shearing shed is a functional and comfortable working space. Our building consultations will advise and recommend different natural lighting features and ventilation to maximise natural lighting and ventilation requirements.
